Overview
Course Registration Guidelines
- Most courses can be registered directly through the Student Information System (SIS) during the announced Course Registration Period, provided that students meet the registration restrictions set by the course-offering academic units.
- The online Add/Drop process follows the same steps as course registration and typically takes place during the first week of the teaching period each semester.
- For courses that cannot be added or dropped online via SIS, or if a student wishes to bypass registration restrictions for a course, approval must be obtained from the course-offering academic unit through the Online Application in SIS. For more information, please refer to the section on Add/Drop for Restricted Courses.
Important Rules and Conduct

Students are strictly prohibited from engaging in any activities that attempt to gain an unfair advantage during online course registration, including but not limited to:
- Holding a course seat with the intention of releasing it to another student in a coordinated manner;
- Attempting to add a closed course section using automated scripts or computer programs;
- Using browser add-ons or automated tools to monitor section capacity changes in a way that disrupts system performance.

The University continuously monitors web activity during the add/drop period to ensure system integrity. Any student found to be misusing the course registration system will be barred from using the online add/drop function for the entire semester, and may also be subject to further disciplinary actions in accordance with University regulations.
