Students with Special Education Needs (SEN)
- City University of Hong Kong (DG) is committed to providing an equal educational opportunity for all students including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Students may complete the online declaration in AIMS [Student Record > My Applications > Special Educational Needs Declaration] with supporting documents no later than the end of Week 2 of the first Semester/Term of admission so that suitable arrangements can be provided to facilitate their learning at the University.
- Information collected will be used by different academic units and service units at the University for offering assistance to SEN students and for statistical purposes. The Academic Regulations and Records Office (ARRO) will collate the information and make appropriate referrals to teaching academic units and other service units such as the Library and Student Development Services.

- All information collected will be kept confidential and used on a need-to-know basis. Whilst there are limits to the level and kind of services that can be provided, individual academic units and service units may contact the students concerned to discuss the services and assistance that can be offered.
- The decisions of students' home academic unit on any special assessment/examination arrangements will normally be available in Week 5 of the first Semester/Term of admission. Please check the decision via the same AIMS function.

Supporting Documents Required
Students should submit an up-to-date medical/assessment report issued by Hospital Authority, Health Commission, Department of Education, a registered medical practitioner, or a professional, such as speech therapist, psychologist and audiologist.
Students with different special needs are required to submit specific supporting documents, which clearly state the types of disability as follows:
| Physical and Sensory Disability | Colour blindness (CB) | A medical/assessment report written by ophthalmologist/optometrist/the department of Health within 5 years before the application. |
| Hearing Impairment (HI) | An assessment report with an audiogram written by an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist or audiologist within 5 years before the application. | |
| Physical/mobility Disabilities (PH) | An assessment report/medical certificate written by specialists, e.g. physiotherapist, occupational therapist within 5 years before the application. The report needs to contain the following information:

| Visual Impairment (VI) | An assessment report/medical certificate written by an ophthalmologist or an optometrist within 5 years before the application. The supporting content need to contain the following information:

| Health Issues | Mental Illness (MI) | A medical report written by psychiatrist within 3 years before application. The report clearly indicates student’s mental state and suggested accommodation. |
| Visceral Disability (VD) | A medical report written by doctor within 5 years before the application. The report clearly indicates student’s medical illness and accommodation suggestions. | |
| Others | Students with other special needs need to submit up-to-date medical/ assessment report written by a registered medical practitioner or a professional. |
